We left TN June 1, but not before first becoming the Brandon Resort and Spa Water Volleyball Champs!! It was a challenge with tough competition from the owners and sponsors of the tournament, Allan and Sissy…brother-in-law and sister! Now, to hear them tell the story, they beat us, but those were in exhibition matches that followed the rain delayed championship match…best two out of three games. It should further be noted that we were entered in the 45 to 50 age bracket rather than the Senior division. We prevailed with our veteran savvy and our ability to whine the loudest and by calling lots of shots out of bounds!! *LOL* There will be a rematch in September. So Allan and Sis, practice and practice some more!! You should have the pool advantage!!
Let's Restrategize Our Game, Sis!
Instead of Sunning, Maybe We Should Practice?
Our Fans...Niles and Cocoa
While in the Boro we didn’t spend all our time honing our water volleyball skills. We also visited with other family members and friends. Momma Grace is doing pretty good and we had some quality time with her.
We had dinner and caught up with all our happenings with our friends Carol and Gregg. Carol cooked a fantastic meal using lots of fresh vegetables from their lush garden. They have recently ordered a travel trailer and we are going for a long weekend together in September! Looking forward to the Defeated Creek experience!
Another day, we spent with our friends Betsy and Smitty. Frank always looks forward to his rounds of golf with Smitty at Old Fort. This time the wives got to join them for the day. It was so hot the day we played, that we were all lagging a bit by the end of 18 holes. We met up for a late lunch at Jim and Nicks Barbecue to finish out our fun together. Always good to see them!
I also spent time with my "bestest" friend, Sherry. We didn’t get to have more than one afternoon together since her kids were coming in for the weekend. We had hoped to go see Sex and the City, but it didn’t start until the next day. We had to settle with lunch and then a bit of shopping. It’s just always fun to be together and catch up with all the news and gossip!
Visited with my sister, Mary, and her husband, Tim; my niece Lane and her boyfriend, Adam. Joe Will, Brad (nephews)and Sara Grace (niece) were also around. So it was a good Boro visit!! We will return there by September 13.
We are in route to LaCrosse, WI to stay a few days with friends Red and Mary from Sabal Springs. We have stayed in Effingham, IL and for a night in Galesburg, IL. Lots of rain, storms, and tornado warnings in the areas. Too much rain here and not enough in Florida, my friend Vicki tells us. Wish we could send some that way!
Looking forward to also meeting up with friends Kevin and Karen while in LaCrosse. Kevin is a former work buddy of Frank’s while he was in Cleveland, Ohio. I have been e-mailing Karen for eight years, but we have never met. They are driving over from Minneapolis for an overnight visit. More will follow on LaCrosse and our visits later!
