Setting Up Camp at Topsail

Hard to believe it’s been two weeks since leaving home. Guess it’s true, “Time flies when you are having fun!” Topsail Preserve is still as busy as ever…a most popular campground…people coming and going all the time! That’s why we like to get a site on the backside of the park…a little quieter.

We settled in the first week with our routine…coffee and paper in the morning on the patio; a bit later, a power walk for me. Then it's off to the beach with a packed lunch to spend a couple of hours under the beach umbrella. Afternoons are spent in the shade reading or visiting with old friends or new found ones around the park. Later, dinner at one of our many favorite Destin spots or maybe just staying home and putting something on the grill. Tough day, right!
Friends, Dave and Durrie, who we met here last year in May, were invited over for burgers one evening. Presently, they are parked at Grayton Beach but will be here for two weeks starting Sunday, May 17th. Their campsite is going to be right next to us so I will have to get the breakfast griddle fired up! That wafting scent of bacon cooking in the morning will drive Durrie crazy!
