Hard to believe we have been gone for over a week now. We left April 23,2008 and had to make a stop in Tampa at Lazydays…more coach work. Last time we were there for new carpet, someone punched holes in our leather chairs while removing them from the coach. So those had to be taken out for new upholstery. There is always something!! Service work just perpetuates more work!! Anyway, they got everything done in one day (that was unbelievable) so we were able to relax a few days at Rally Park. Frank, of course, doesn’t mind staying there because he calls it his “Disneyland”. All the coaches are open to tour, there is a huge Camping World (always another gadget to buy), avid RVers to talk with, and they feed you two meals a day…free! Breakfast and lunch are served Monday - Saturday. Now these are not gourmet meals by any means, but hey, it’s free and served in a very nice café where you can sit and watch the world go by!! If you are ever thinking of buying a motor home, take a trip to Lazydays in Seffner, FL…it’s an experience!
During our down time there, we decided to drive to Plant City. We have always heard about the Strawberry Festival and the huge strawberry shortcakes people stand in line for. Festival time was over, but John and Rosemary (good friends made while RVing) told us about this great place for strawberry milkshakes…Parksdale Farms. So we went looking and what a bonanza we found! This place was hopping…people everywhere eating better- than -Dairy Queen concoctions and buying fresh produce. Not only delicious strawberry treats are sold, but vegetables and the most wonder to-die-for freshly squeezed OJ. I wish I could have bought gallons of that stuff to keep during the travels!! We, of course, indulged ourselves…Frank had a strawberry milkshake and I tried a strawberry parfait…both really, really good! We also bought lots of fresh veggies…we are trying to behave ourselves this trip and only splurge occasionally! So boring!*L*
We highly recommend Parksdale Farms. They are open year round and right down I-4, Exit 17 (at Dinosaur World Exit). It’s worth the short drive and next time we plan to go when the berries are at their peak. I want some of that famous Strawberry Shortcake piled with mile high whipped cream!!
