Arriving in Traverse City July1

We made it to Traverse City and Traverse Bay RV Resort on July 1 and had planned to stay the month of July. After being here now for three weeks, we like it so much that we have extended our stay through August 19. We canceled several other reservations after learning that it really wasn’t worth our time to move the rig to these places since the things we wanted to see in those areas were in driving distance of Traverse City. We have also made several friends here and there are lots of activities that take place inside the resort. Many of the people whom we have met, summer here and then move their rig to Florida for the winter. Several own sites also at River Bend, Pelican Lakes, or Silver Lakes; one couple owns a home at Lexington. Looks like we will be meeting up with them again in season there!

When we first arrived, we were placed in the North Loop…the newer area. Many of the lots have sold there and are being developed, i.e. adding a coach house and extending and landscaping their patio areas. After being there a few weeks, we decided we wanted to move to the South Loop. It's more established and quieter; now we are on an owner’s lot that is for sale.
I never expected this area to be so interesting and have so many places to visit. Traverse City is the largest town in this area of Michigan with all the amenities of shopping and dining one could want. There is even a TJ Maxx!! Traverse City is our anchor town, making it easy to get to the smaller harbor towns in the area. Those make for a fun day of sightseeing. I’ll be making entries that cover all the great places we have discovered during our time here. Since we are staying longer, we will have the time to find even more and go back to some of our favorites!
