Our main reason for touring Nova Scotia this summer was to attend Frank’s 45th college reunion at Acadia University in Wolfville, NS. We arrived at the Land of Evangeline Campground on July 8. The sun was shining and continued to do so up until the Sunday we left for Prince Edward Island. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weekend for all the classmate gatherings. We met up with friends from Naples…Peter and Pamela…at registration, and later John and Margaret Ann . We came all this way to see friends/classmates we see in Florida in the winter!! Always fun to see this bunch!! Over the weekend, Frank would reunite with many of his Acadia buds. Some he had visited with five years ago at the 40th… others he had not seen since graduation!

Old Friends, Barbeques, and Banquets
Besides all the reunion festivities, we had time to take in the sights of Wolfville and the area. The Annapolis Valley is a picturesque area of sweeping rural vistas and small provincial towns located on the New Minas Basin that is fed from the Bay of Fundy. This bay is noted for having the highest tides in the world. When the tides are out, the water is sucked out of the Basin leaving large mudflats. It is quite the phenomenon! If you are traveling by boat, better make sure you go with the tide or you literally become “a stuck-in-the-mud”!
TIDE'S OUT AND HALL'S HARBOR...BOATS ON THE BOTTOM

The area is populated with large dairy farms making local cheese items; local farm markets producing fresh produce and berries; small bakeries abound enticing you with aromas that promise freshly baked breads and sweets. There are several wineries also located in the area. Grand Pre' winery was our favorite local choice for wine tasting and dining. Our group leisurely dined al fresco on sumptuous gourmet choices. The town is not without refined dining. A big change for the graduates of 1964!
